Grade 5 students are having their PYP Exhibition Assessment with Head and Board of School on Tuesday and Wednesday, April 9-10.
The purposes of the assessment are to promote student learning, provide information about student learning, and contribute to the successful implementation of the programme.
By collaborating with Mentors, family, and wider community, sudents execute their research process through the eight cycle of the PYP Exhibition which are (1) learning through inquiry, (2) demonstrations of learner profiles, (3) utilizing ATL skills, (4) collaboration to plan learning and teaching, (5) setting learning goals and success criteria, (6) reflection upon and modificatoon of inquiry, (7) considering action on learning, and (8) self-assessment.
Through the assessment, students demonstrate their commitment to learning as well as present their research finding and what they did as their action. As a matter of facts, it is also an opportunity for students to self-assess their performance using that 8 cycle. For us, we are able to identify what students know, understand, can do and value at different stages in their process of doing the PYP Exhibition.
In the PYP, learning is viewed as a continuous journey, where assessment data is used to plan the next stage of their learning. The exhibition, represents a unique and significant opportunity for students to exhibit the attributes of the IB learner profile developed throughout their engagement with the PYP.
